Jesus was given "a name which is above every name, that at/in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Philip. ii. 9-11.
Professor Stuart, of Andover, says, in his "Letters to Dr. Channing," "Things in heaven, earth, and under the earth, is a common periphrasis of the Hebrew and New Testament writers, for the universe. What can be meant by things in heaven, that is, beings in heaven, bowing the knee to Jesus, if spiritual worship be not meant?" So much from Professor Stuart. Now if the universe [that is, all men without exception] are to render spiritual and divine worship to Christ, will they not all be holy and happy... T. Whittemore

God bless.

There is zero question in my mind and heart that the worship of all beings in the heavens, the earth, and the underworld is spiritual worship (kampto always used of worship in the Koine). I am sure, looking at the dismal condition of the human lot, that nothing we can ask or think comes remotely close to what our God has declared..."unto Me shall every knee bow." Yep, and even the isles of the heathen!

"And yet the Love that brought forth the existence of all things changes not through the fall of its creatures, but is continually at work to bring back all fallen nature and creature. All that passes for a time between God and His fallen creature is but one and the same thing, working for one and the same end, and though this is called "wrath," and that called "punishment," "curse," and "death," it is all from the beginning to the end nothing but the work of the first creating Love, and means nothing else, and does nothing else, but those works of purifying fire, which must and alone can burn away all that dark evil which separates the creature from its first-created union with God.

Gods providence, from the fall to the restitution of all things, is doing the same thing as when He said to the dark chaos of fallen nature, "Let there be light." He still says, and will continue saying, the same thing, till there is not evil of darkness left in nature and creature. God creating, God illuminating, God sanctifying, God threatening and punishing, God forgiving and redeeming, are all but one and the same essential, immutable, never-ceasing working of the Divine Nature." -William Law-

" God hath given all things to Christ, as the moral Ruler of the world. "Ask of me, and I will give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession." Psalms 2:8 "The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand." John 3:35 "All things," here, means all intelligent beings. So say the best commentators...All things shall be subdued unto Christ, -Christ shall be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all." (1 Cor. 15:28) " T. Whittemore

God bless.

Amen, Spm62.

"From Him everything comes, through Him everything exists, and in Him everything ends. He is indeed the Source, the Guide, and the Goal of everything.....the whole enchilada!

Dr. William Barclay (I Am A Convinced Universalist)

Gregory of Nyssa offered three reasons why he believed in universalism. First, he believed in it because of the character of God. "Being good, God entertains pity for fallen man; being wise, he is not ignorant of the means for his recovery." Second, he believed in it because of the nature of evil. Evil must in the end be moved out of existence, "so that the absolutely non-existent should cease to be at all." Evil is essentially negative and doomed to non-existence. Third, he believed in it because of the purpose of punishment. The purpose of punishment is always remedial. Its aim is "to get the good separated from the evil and to attract it into the communion of blessedness." Punishment will hurt, but it is like the fire which separates the alloy from the gold; it is like the surgery which removes the diseased thing; it is like the cautery which burns out that which cannot be removed any other way.

But I want to set down not the arguments of others but the thoughts which have persuaded me personally of universal salvation.

Sing it over again to me, wonderful words of life.

In the Book of Acts we read regarding the final recovery of all things from sin, or, when all things are put right, or restored anew.

Acts 3:21

**** "Until final recovery of all things from sin." -Kenneth Taylor-

**** "Until the whole world is re-created." -RIEU-

**** "When all is restored anew." -Monsig. Ronald Knox-

**** "When all things are put right." -BAS-

**** "Of the great restoration." -James Moffatt-

Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. (AKJV)

Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, whereof God spake by the mouth of His holy prophets that have been from of old. (ASV)

Who is to be kept in heaven till the time when all things are put right, of which God has given word by the mouth of his holy prophets, who have been from the earliest times. (BBE)

Whom heaven must receive until the time for establishing all that God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from long ago.
(Common)

Whom heaven indeed must receive till the times of the restoring of all things, of which God has spoken by the mouth of his holy prophets since time began. (Darby)

Heaven must receive him until the time of universal restoration that God announced long ago through the voice of his holy prophets. Matt. 17:11; Luke 1:70; Acts 1:11 (ISV)

Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. (KJV)

Whom, indeed, heaven must retain till the time of the accomplishment of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets, from the beginning of time. (LO)

Whom the heavens must receive until the time of restoration of all things. "God spoke of this ages ago, through the mouth of his holy prophets. (Montgomery)

Whom the heavens must retain, until the completion of the times of those things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of his holy prophets of old. (Murdock)

Unto whom, indeed, heaven must needs give welcome, until the times of the due establishment of all things, of which God hath spoken through the mouth of his holy age-past prophets. (Rotherham)

Whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God spoke long ago by the mouth of his holy prophets.
(WEB)

Heaven must receive Him until those times of which God has spoken from the earliest ages through the lips of His holy Prophets--the times of the reconstitution of all things. (Weymouth)

Whom it behoveth heaven, indeed, to receive till times of a restitution of all things, of which God spake through the mouth of all His holy prophets from the age. (YLT)

Apokatastasis= Restitution=

Re-establishment from a state of ruin (Of a perfect state before the fall of Adam. The kindred verb is "to restore" (see Dr. Marvin Vincent N.T.)....the same as regeneration in Matt. 19:28

http://www.godrules.net/library/vincent/vincent.htm

Apokatastasis Rooted In Apokathistemi

Apokathistemi=

To restore to its former state.

Regeneration=

The making of all things new. The restoration of Acts 3:21= the "when" of the next clause.

Please Note:

Apokatastasewv in linked with palingenesia

Palingenesia ="new birth"

Palin= "again,"

Genesis= "birth"

Used of "spiritual regeneration," Titus 3:5, involving the communication of a new life.

Your references appear to support the Mormon beliefs in a restoration and Millennium as mentioned in post 42 above.

----
We also believe that there will yet be a restitution of all things from the beginning. This includes the seas moving back to the north, the land being undivided etc. as it used to be. In effect the earth will be restored to its paradisiacal glory as it was in the Garden of Eden. Those events may not be far distant but nobody knows for sure when the glorious second coming of Jesus Christ will take place.

"We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory." 10th Article of Faith of the LDS church, written about 1830.
