I watched the first 40 seconds of the video and that was enough. To answer the question, it was the humanity of Jesus Christ that died, not His deity. Jesus Christ in His deity was still holding the universe together, while in His humanity, He was being judged for our sins, and later while He was physically dead.
Many people don't understand the doctrine of the hypostatic union of Christ.
If I remember correctly, the JW's don't even believe that Jesus Christ is God. How anyone can arrive at that conclusion is beyond all reason.
However I think it's more interesting from 1:10 to...oh...lets try 2:10
Yes, just that part,
have a look....
Well, Dr. Martin uses his own error to counter the error of the JW's. Unless I'm misunderstanding him, he seems to believe that it was the deity of Christ that died on the Cross. Apparently, someone needs to inform him that first of all, deity cannot be confined to a cross or anywhere else, and second, deity is not subject to death.
Get it straight people, Jesus Christ is both eternal and infinite God, and true humanity in one person. It was the humanity of Christ that died.
Well, I don't think that God completely died, because God can't die. I think that He simply left the flesh. No one killed Him on the cross, He gave up His Spirit. So, I think that by God leaving the flesh, The flesh was dead without His Spirit being there, for He left it. Then returned back into the body that He left. That is how I see it.
So, I think that His Spirit was alive outside of the body.

In another video where he argues with a JW he states very clearly that there is no such thing as "soul sleep" so that after Jesus died he was still able to run the world....
However You are correct Mike, in this video he stops a sentence short in a weird manner that leaves his main point unsaid,,,,
Walter martin did not believe in soul sleep* so we should not come away from this thinking he did....
(* see http://christianresearchnetwork.com/?p=8750 (broken link) )
for a very good and way, way more clear understanding of Martin's view of soul sleep as well as the eternal fate of the damned...this video is great! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YT4AqFaUDnY

You are trying to make a joke out of nonsense, show how mature and smart you are.
Where ever Jesus goes the Holy Spirit goes also, since they are one.
What I wrote went completely over your head, but I am not surprised.
It seems to have gone completely over your head. The Holy Spirit IS the Spirit that left Jesus's human body and was reborn (resurrected) as Spirit when He died on the Cross. It is God's Spirit in Jesus's human Spirit form.
