thanks for taking the time to write a thoughtful post. i'm not saying we have a great food scene but have you tried Andy's Mediterranean (Walnut Hills), Emanu for Ethiopian (Pleasant Ridge), Pho Lang Thang (OTR / Findlay Market), or looked at the Thai food thread? It may be these places don't do it for you, but thought I would point them out!

I feel like maybe we were an exception, but we have a whole circle of friends that we met in the neighborhood. It has been one of the very best things since our move. I think some of that is just luck though, I know other people that know almost no one on their block. To your comment, our neighbors on either side of us are immediate family of one another and their brother lives down the street. It is almost comical.

I'd say the progress in the last half-decade is a bit more than incremental. This feels like a completely different city than the one I left in 2005.
I wouldn't be following this forum if I didn't see exciting changes for the better going on in Cincy. Since I left in 2007 and particularly in the last year or so there has almost been a cultural revolution (in the city at least). Its really fantastic to see, as Cincinnati has so much potential that its squandered for too long and to see the city (at least the downtown area) finally rebound warms my heart.
