As a follow up. A longer bus ride to Children's Hospital for the short term would also be fine. If anyone has suggestions for something further out, please let me know. I'm currently checking all of the options I can find.

Both are a bit less convenient for your commute, but will be in the same price range. There's also a Motel 6 near the Days Inn. In Avondale, around the Harriet Beecher Stowe House there are some cheap apartments that are in a bit more stable part of the neighborhood than the more crime ridden section on the other side of the 71 freeway, but I don't have any phone numbers to give you to see if they take weekly rentals.

Thank you very much for the suggestions. I'll check them out. I'll post a follow up once I settle on something.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the pointers though.
That's a real bummer. I remember back when the Dockside VI restaurant in that motel was a prima venue for seafood. I ate there many times, and put customers up at the motel itself. But time changes everything.

If memory serves me right, the Days Inn was remodeled not too long ago. It might give you the best environment. At least I'd start there.

Just to follow up. I will likely go with Intown suites on Colerain Ave. Weekly rates are reasonable at $189. It seems that the route 19 bus will take me right to Children's. From what I can tell, the neighborhood looks fine (Colerain, just north of Banning Rd.). Hopefully this one is still open when I get there.

Thanks again.

The neighborhood is not the best, and I think I've read reports of crime involving that property. That said, it may work fine for you. I would just advise you to have a backup plan in case it doesn't. I'm assuming you took my initial advice on the thread, and that nothing panned out, if you're now looking as far away as the area of Colerain and Banning.

Thanks for the heads up.

Yes, nothing panned out as you mentioned. The biggest issue is availability with the short notice. Also, none of the hotels mentioned previously were available.

I guess a "not the best" neighborhood is relative, so I'm not really sure where to place it. As long as I'm not bombarded by gang activity, and my neighbors aren't selling drugs and/or people, I suppose I can get by for the few weeks I need.

Regarding the distance, an 8 or 9 mile commute on the bus isn't a big deal with the bus stops right near both locations and no transfers involved.

That's not a bad route, it moves fairly quickly most of the time. It is $0.90 extra each way over the regular fare because the motel's in Zone 2. I know because I have to use the 19 at times to visit my dentist near there. But still, $5.30/day for commute fees isn't too bad.

Sorry for the difficulty you've had. Actually, as I recall, drug trafficking WAS the problem.

Thanks. I also just found a news report on a man being stabbed and killed there in 2013. Back to square one I guess. I only have a few weeks to figure this out.
