P&G....go for it! I worked for P&G when I first got out of high school, but didn't stay there and I am still kicking myself in the rear for the past 30 years. To think what my life could have been like now if I would have just stayed there. Don't pass up a great opportunity!

Just remember that P&G still tests products/chemicals on live animals. Not all of them survive.

If you're OK drawing a paycheck from the company that authorizes that, you're good.

I won't invest in their stock for that reason alone.

Thats one thing I love about Cincy. That more southern feel to it. Just shows you have diverse the regions of Ohio are. Not to mention the temp differance. Saw Cincinnati yesterday morning was at 37 while Charlotte sat at 40. Cleveland was 25 lol.

Mark Twain didn't quote the above statement and it's wrong to suggest that he did. I understand that you said he "may or may not have", but to throw around quotes and famous writers on a public forum is a little questionable.

The backwardness that you speak of in Cincinnati:

The city is and has been a democratic city for a long time. Majority of our council is democratic, we are ran and have been ran for a long time by a democratic mayor, we voted for Kerry, we voted against a discrimination law that protects homosexuals, we voted for the LRT, and we voted for casinos.

I'm not sure what you meant by "backwardness", but maybe you can enlighten me?

Is it the strip-clubs you see in downtown Baltimore with a sticky-white-dried-up substance on the inside of the glass in private booths -exposed to people that pass by?

Is it having more than an ounce of marijuana and it still being considered a misdemeanor?

Is it being ran by an actual homosexual mayor like every other city?

Is it having a nightclub that serves Gin & Tonic so late that you can just leave from there and go back to work from there?

I'm really curious.

Funny you should mention that - today it is 48 and sunny in Cincinnati and according to wunderground it's 27 and cloudy in Cleveland. The difference normally isn't that large, but there is definitely a difference.

Mark Twain, Benjamin Franklin, and Shakespeare seem to get credit for having said just about everything at times, often without question. Give me props for qualifying that Mr Clemens may or may not have coined the twenty-year-behind remark. It's spot-on, no matter who might've uttered it first.

Mr/Ms Cincy-Rise, it's your attitude that personifies the problems my hometown perpetuates instead of addresses. You seem to think there's nothing wrong with all the murders-by-cop that go on usually without provocation, with the offenders "punished" by promotion or by getting hired elsewhere. You're obviously fixated on the small minority of humans who are naturally, from birth, "programmed" to find intimacy with persons of the same gender. That bizarre obsession with "homosexuals" and the energy wasted in putting their legal (not "special") rights up for a vote only cements Cincinnati's reputation in most other places, outside the US even more so because of how weird a lot of this country is about it. And let's not forget that redneck bar in Mason with the "English only" sign which so many folks thought was the greatest thing.

What is it with you people??? What is it you're afraid of? Why do you not realize that most countries in the world have another primary language than ours, and that if you or I were to travel to or work in one we wouldn't get hated on for daring to not communicate in their tongue? What exactly is it about a pair of women or men who want to not have to hide their wish to live out their lives together as a couple that sends you racing hysterically to the ballot box to deny them equality under the law? Why do you think African-Americans call Cincinnati "up South," and what makes you believe this is good or doesn't matter? One of the favorite phrases of people like you is, "If you don't like it, leave." That's exactly what I did. The man who originated this thread asked for feedback on moving to Southwest Ohio and I gave it to him. In the future, you should phone in to Bill Cunningham or Rush Limbaugh (if he's not back in rehab), or write to Ann Coulter, instead of trying to derail the subject at hand to project your ignorance and disrespect strangers. Peace!

P. S. Thanks, Cincy-Rise, for posting Exhibit A of Cincinnati backasswardness. It helped to get the point I was making to MSLR across.

^ I have been on the sidelines, but I do have a few comments. Generalizing an entire area seems to run counter to the liberal ideals you seem to espouse.

- "Murders by cop" seems to be over the top, but you have your opinion. Were these proven in a court of law? Citizens have no control over a court case or a police union contract. The city has fired several cops only to have them reinstated by the union. It seems your frustration is better directed at the jury/lawyers in a case or the police union.

- Gay rights were passed by the city initially. The only group to ever challenge this to get it on a ballot was the ultra-conservative, whacko group CCV (Citizens for Community Values). With misinformation, and a large budget the voters bought their story in 1992. A few years ago it was brought to the ballot again - CCV again tried to run a campaign to defeat the measure, but it became clear early on it would pass (in the 60% range - a landslide) and CCV basically quit. It should be noted this group is from the suburbs.
- The dirtball in Mason is an idiot, and many people were appalled. Again this was in the suburbs, which was also an area that until a few years ago probably was the country. I do not have time to research, but I have seen stories like this outside quite a few cities - I'll see if I can find some.

I don't want to put words in Cincy-Rise's mouth, but he basically said the city itself has a fairly progressive (especially near the core) citizenry and there are conservative groups in the suburbs - this is true. I know I am not going to change your opinion as you are grounded in your view, but I would ask that you consider that by giving examples that support your opinion does not also mean everyone in the city is a certain way - e.g. "backassward".

I also concur, Rush Limbaugh is a drug addict - I have wondered if he is still of the opinion that you should just be thrown in jail if caught buying/using illegal drugs.

Back on topic for MSLR - I am sure you will be able to find a crowd and places you are comfortable with, and P&G is a great opportunity.
