Yeah, I think that's to be expected. The one good thing about urban prairies is that they can be transformed into park-space once density re-adjusts. Obviously, Detroit won't get back to it's 2M population, so in the meantime, dense housing in bad areas will get knocked down. However, I think that eventually new housing will hopefully get built and more green space will fill some spots where demolition occurred. Again, I think it will take time, but it will eventually happen....I certainly don't think the city will flat out fail.

Why is everyone always hating on Baltimore??! I lived downtown for three years and never felt safer. Agreed, parts are run-down but for the most part, the people are super nice.

I think it's easy To cast judgment on Others who are sharing experiences and information. This is not a serious threat to us all information is appreciated I live in Detroit for 10 years and looking back don't have a lot Of positive things to say about what the city had to offer. It's sort of a dog that's my experience.

Baltimore might be the most under-rated city in the country. Many people are ignorant. That's why Baltimore does not get the respect it should get. Also, we live in a world filled with many negative people who only look for negative things instead of positive things. So that's another reason for the lack of love for Baltimore.

Detroit...not even close. Baltimore has ghettos, but the entire city is not a ghetto like Detroit.

Yup, my last visit there, a few weeks ago, really opened my eyes. Downtown Baltimore, is big, clean, beautifully laid out. The inner harbor is full of tourists. Driving into and through downtown I saw plenty of pedestrians, cafes, bars, restaurants and really nice architecture, both old and new. I remember 12 years ago, going to Baltimore was a bit scary, a couple blocks out of the tourist area and it became seedy, fast. It think those areas were obliterated, replaced by the shiny new downtown. The city has the population of Boston & D.C. but gets nowhere the respect it should.

If Baltimore were the size of Boston and dc it'd be the size of Philadelphia
