"you haven't seen too much of Texas if you think most of the land is ugly"

Houston, Dallas, Austin, the Hill Country, West Texas, San Antonio. Honestly, I don't get the appeal.

Well I guess it's true "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" and in my eyes North Carolina out shines Texas in beauty in every way.

Charlotte, Raleigh, Winston-Salem, Wilmington. Honestly, I don't get what is so great about it.

Fight the good fight Guerilla. I can understand anyone saying if they've been all around and thought it was boring and the scenery not so great. But that is not the norm to people who actually have been across the state. Texas is one of the most diverse lands in the country from the piney woods in the east to the mountains and basin to the west to valley in the south to the hill country in Central Texas. There's alot more in this state to explore as well.

Also, judging this state by only going to one area really clouds your credibility. That's like me saying North Carolina is uninteresting by visiting the eastern parts of North Carolina knowing there's more to explore especially in the western parts of the state.

Charlotte, Raleigh, and Winston-Salem are pretty dull. But the Blue Ridge and the coasts trump anything in Texas in my opinion. Putting North Carolina aside, I really don't get what is so "pretty" about Texas. I understand the pride in culture and people, but the natural scenery is clearly trumped by Oregon, Washington, Colorado, California, Hawaii, Utah, Montana, Idaho, Arizona, Virginia. Heck I'd even rate Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama above it. It's nicer than most of its neighboring states. But that's not much to brag about.

Austin, hands down!!! Both cities do have good job markets and are about the same for cost of living, but Austin has UT and the capital as well as far better scenery and nightlife. North Carolina is ok if A) you live in the appalacians or B) you live in the outer banks, the rest of the state is pretty boring and ugly which includes Charlotte which is also the capital of nascar- need I say more?

yes Charlotte is the Capital of Nascar which pumps millions into the local economy. Like it or not, Nascar brings all kinds of people(and their money) to the city every year. Nascar Hall of fame will be a great accomplishment for the city once it opens. And im not even a Nascar fan.

Austin really doesn't have a flash flooding problem-- but a lot of the Hill Country towns in Central Texas do. As for NC... hurricanes anyone?

Whats weird is we havent had a big one in the last few years(knocks on wood). I know its inevitable though. I just hope one doesnt put the outer banks under water. But as for Texas, how bout them tornadoes?
