O.k. so are you all discussing the nightlife that places are known for or the nightlife that they actually have? Until you lay out what actually is in Atlanta, Chicago, Miami, N.O., etc. the comparison is b.s.
Don't know what all Chicago offers, but I know that there's more to Miami than South Beach. It may not be as glitzy or well-known but those thing don't necessarily equal better. Same thing with N.O. you have the choice of hitting the bar scene with the tourists or you can hang with locals and hit the club scene which is almost as big and dance til 6am or whenever the last person decides to leave. All four offer choices in nightlife. Bars range from holes in the wall to upscale list only venues, same goes for clubs. I'm sure hip-hop, latin, house, etc. can be found in all of them as well.
Not saying that either is better than the other, just making sure that hype isn't being used to judge quality.
There's also more to nightlife than going to the club or for drinks. There are things like shows, plays, casinos, art galleries, and whatever else people do at night.
Exactly.I was talking about what someone else mentioned.I have said this before plenty of times.N.O has Casinos ,the others dont but IMO opinion its not enough. One of my best friend is born and raised in N.O.He has lived in Atlanta but his entire family still lives in N.O.I go with him frequently when he goes home although I admit I have not been since after Katrina. But based on what he and his sibling who I talk with, they say what I say is true. Its not just them.As I said before many of my friends are from N.O.SOme still live there. They always rave about coming to Atlanta to hang out. because THEY say its better.I personally dont know everything about N.O. but I have been often and I hang with locals so YOU tell me what else is there?

See the above post for proof.
Oh yeah. And when the awards shows arrive there will be even more celebrities partying here.
From what I've heard your city's nightlife sucks and even lowly Minneapolis trumps its a$$....not to mention Milwaukee, Cleveland and Chicago. I'll take 1st hand experience over hearsay any day of the week.
Just show your lame old a$$ down here someday and see what happens!

it's all b.s. hype....ATL is just another party town, nothing more. Nobody give two or even three $hits about your clublife.......it's all posers and wannabes. If you want to have fun/get laid go to the Midwest, people party for a REASON here!

What do you think the other ones are? Los Angeles, NYC, Chicago, and Vegas (though with Miami, that's already five).
Also, to whoever said something about skylines in Europe. Frankfurt, Paris (La Defense), Moscow, and several other major cities have sizable collections of skyscrapers. Thankfully, old city centers were torn down to create most of these (well, not intentionally, well, unless WWII counts as intentional (which it kinda was)).
I should correct myself. I meant clubs specifically when I said Nitelife. Not all around night life. But the cities I was thinking of that can compete with Atlanta's clubs would be New York, L.A., Miami, and maybe Vegas. Chicago's all around nite life may actually exceed Atlanta's but I don't think it's Nite Clubs are as good.

Been there done that. In my college days I partied in Cleveland, Detroit, Columbus, Indianapolis, and Chicago among others. In fact about the only place I didn't hit was Milwaukee and the Twin Cities. I had friends from Milwaukee though.

Here's a novel idea. Instead of getting mad and flying off the handle because someone shows you something that makes your home look a little ordinary. Put down the sippy cup of gangsta juice and make an effort to start posting some facts and info in your favor like I have.
Like I said I used to live in the MidWest and travelled there extensively. You obviously have never been to the South but want to make assumptions of what it's about. When some one tells you something that shatters these assumptions you get defensive. The clubs in most of those cities ranged from ok to nice. I had fun at some of them. The bars scenes were mostly your typical college beer chug spots for the frat crowd. Alright but would get boring. Atlanta's clubs are just a different caliber when it comes to quality, variety, and events offered.
I looked into the Clubs you suggested for the MPLS area. They didn't seem to be bad but I doubt you looked into anything in Atlanta before you jumped to a conclusion about the validity of our nitelife.

See, here you go. All I said is that you can't compare them off of perceptions and pointed out that there is more to nightlife than a club. Never was comparing N.O. or Miami to Atlanta. Now, if some locals are telling you that New Orleans nightlife is nothing but frat style drinking then apparently they didn't/don't get out much and if that's all you've seen you'd be better off exploring the city by yourself. I find it hard to believe that a city that created it's own dance/club genre would be lacking a club scene. I can easily go Uptown or Bourbon and drink with the out of towners and hop from bar to bar. Or I can choose a a nightclub that ranges from a whole in the wall with people dancing upside down to an upscale spot a couple blocks down, I can go to Marigny or Frenchman and hit a Jazz spot or Cafe Negril, or stand in front of the techno/house music spots shaking my head. I can go across the river and go to one of the Latin or Central American clubs, go to Kenner and kick it with the Brazilians, head back to Mid-City or the 7th ward and vibe wit the Reggae or Dancehall crouds. I can go back to Frenchman to a poetry reading, or go catch a play or show for the night. The theater district will be back up and running soon, adding even more. If I feel lucky, I can hit a casino or gaming parlor. I can find bands on the street to dance to, or a second line to join in. I can go to the Warehouse District or Magazine st and look at art and sip wine all night.. I can go to a movie and have pick from an old whole in the wall 4 screen theater, to a regular AMC cineplex, or I can be "extra" and go to a theater where I can get a full meal, drinks and a waiter throughout the show. Feeling horny, go to a burlesque show, one of cheesy strip shows on Bourbon, hit up one of the local strip clubs, hell you can go to Love Acts and pay to watch people have sex on stage (as sick as it is, people actually do it). We may not have it all or the celebrities to boost it up, but variety is not something we lack.
To say that N.O.'s nightlife is Bourbon St bar hoppin is like me saying that Atlanta's nightlife revolves around hip-hop spots and strip clubs. To hear that New Orleanians are selling you this idea is even sadder. I believe I even saw you post that outside of N.O.'s local cuisine, there are no options once. . If you're going to take offense when people lay out stereotypes of Atlanta, don't do the same for other cities.
With that said, does the 3rd largest city in the U.S. really have less things to do at night than Atlanta?
