IL would probably be better if this situation were the case, but it isn't.
As a former Illinois resident I always thought it was strange the 5th most populist state has only one large or well know city.

I dunno, with all of the Abraham Lincoln stuff, most students know of Springfield, and most people know the phrase "Will it play in Peoria?", but I understand what you mean, of course, because these are both small cities.

I lived in Springfield, and people will say where is that within the state. My answer was 90 miles from ST. Louis, I have heard the phrase "will it play in Peoria" but have never been there.

As a non-Texan, it sure doesn't seem that way to me. Austin is really just starting to get national exposure whereas Houston has had it for much longer. Dallas and Houston are definitely the two most popular cities in Texas.

As far as my state goes, the two most popular would be Atlanta and Savannah. While Atlanta is significantly larger and more influential, Savannah certainly has a charm and an appeal all its own that Atlanta doesn't have. They are two totally different types of cities. People are more apt to come to Atlanta for shopping, a large-scale event, a convention, to visit attractions, or to party. People tend to visit Savannah for more leisurely purposes: a weekend getaway, good cuisine, a special event (e.g., St. Patty's Day), or just to stroll downtown and experience the essence of the city itself.

As far as my home state (SC) goes, the two most popular cities would be Charleston and Myrtle Beach. Both coastal cities, but they offer different things and attract different crowds. Most consider Myrtle a tourist trap, yet it keeps reeling in the visitors. Charleston attracts people in the same manner Savannah does.

They are. Dallas and Houston are the two powerhouses of the state. Austin can't even come close!

As far as what? I wouldn't even say Houston's the least popular major city on tourism anymore. However, it was voted the most popular on business travel a year ago, yes even ahead of Dallas.

It's tough between the 3C's. Cincinnati, Columbus, and Cleveland.

But I have to go with Cincinnati and Columbus.
