That last ones had Niagara Falls, the hilly/mountainous land in between, and then the statue of Liberty with NYC behind it. I loved it.
The new ones are yellow... that's it. They are trying to call back to the plates from the 30's and whatnot but seriously, UGLY.
I wanted to move to NY State just so I could put one of the last generation plates on my car. The symbolism was great, incorporating both upstate and downstate (unlike the red Liberty plates). Also, the blue colors were soothing and attractive.
The new ones are monstrous. You couldn't pay me to live in NY state now.
I actually really like what Alabama has done with their new license plate. A giant upgrade from their previous "Stars fell on Alabama" plate.
Arizona's plate is also nice as well as Texas' new one.
The ugliest plates? That's a tough one because there are so many..
North Carolina needed a new design 20 years ago. Vermont, I know it's the Green Mountain State, but let's not design our whole plate over it! Virginia; too dull. Ohio's is hideous. So is Missouri's.
Florida has too many specialty plates that it probably won't ever replace it's original with a completely fresh design. I do like the fact that it has the state itself drawn on it's plate. I wish every state would do that. Along with it's respective county. Like Georgia does.
I've never seen an attractive California plate. Even the one with "California" written in sunset script fails to impress. Of course, California has so many vehicles it makes sense to place functionality over design.
DELAWARE plates are horrendous.
COLORADO needs to ditch the rocky mountain design.
GEORGIA plates are too plain and boring. BRING BACK THE PEACH LOGO!
I'm done.
