I went with SF, Boston, Detroit, Chicago simply because Philly's age/style of urbanity fits in better.

Los Angeles is cant be compared to these cities, its Larger, and more important than all the others, however i vote the SF, Boston, Detroit, Chicago group because they are more similar to the Houston, Dallas Atlanta crowd.

This seems rather clear cut. Out of all of them it is probably most similar to Boston

I agree. I'm not sure why this question was asked. Does anyone actually think Philadelphia has more in common with Atlanta or Dallas as opposed to Boston or New York?

In terms of the feel of the city, probably the first group. Those cities are more compact and walkable.

In terms of importance, probably the second group. But Detroit wouldnt belong with the first group either.

The only city in the country that is definitely better than Philadelphia is New York. Other than New York, I think that Philadelphia is as good as any city in the country. I personally love Philly. Philadelphia is very underrated.
