I can't really pick a #1 most beautiful major city but some of the most beautiful are Portland, OR, Seattle, San Francisco, Honolulu, Maybe San Diego as well.
Why do so many people think Denver is so flat? It's not Mountainous by any means, but it's not totally flat either! I think it's just because the rises and elevation differences in Denver aren't as abrupt and close together as some other cities. In fact where I used to live in Parker CO which is a SOUTH EAST suburb of Denver my house sat almost 900 feet higher than Downtown. The changes in elevation from Denver to places nearby such as, Aurora, Thornton, Lakewood, etc. range from 200 to 500 feet! This is mostly the same elevation as the "hills" that are in Pittsburgh, again the city itself, not the surrounding areas 30 miles away!
The point is that downtown Denver IS FLAT!! we are not talking about the mountains to the west of it. Compared to downtown Seattle, downtown DENVER is very very flat.
pwright... damn you... Just as I was settled on Illinois.... :P But really, those are some AWESOME shots!
