Yeah, Houston has a large Vietnamese and Indian population last I heard. I think it could possibly outnumber the Bay Area's Vietnamese and Indian population sooner than we think. Though as of now:
Vietnamese:
SF Bay: 186,225
Houston: 104,126
DFW: 72,059
Miami: 11,057
Indian:
SF Bay: 245,685
DFW: 100,079
Houston: 91,852
Miami: 41,334
While Houston and DFW has been attracting more Asian immigrants compared to years past, I doubt either of them will ever pass the Bay Area in the total Vietnamese and Indian population. The Bay Area has always been a natural entry point for Asians while the same applies for Central Americans to Houston. However its nice to see the Asian population making a bigger foothold in the South.
Here is data for people obtaining permanent residents in 2010. This is just a sample of legal immigration on a given year. For the most part (which we have already known), South Florida gets the most immigrants mainly from the Caribbean and South America, while the Bay Area attracts a large share of their immigrants from Asia. The Texas metros get a good share of their immigrants from Central America and a decent amount of Asians (relative to other metros). All of the data below is found in Supplemental Table 2, which is an excel document.

Nice info and glad to see you included Tampa and Orlando.
I was about to ask 18M if he/she could breakdown Orlando by Race. I've yet to have any success using this new Census website so the only information I can successfully get is either second hand or from the 'Quick Facts' which still exists in the old form.
Good info. Here's a list of the top 15 cities from that linked thread. NYC, LA and Miami have been the top 3 immigrant gateways for some time now:
1. New York 186,086
2. Los Angeles 87,443
3. Miami 69,420
4. Washington 41,322
5. Chicago 35,109
6. San Francisco 31,761
7. Houston 30,844
8. Dallas 26,006
9. Boston 24,969
10. Atlanta 20,447
11. San Diego 19,769
12. San Jose 18,619
13. Philadelphia 18,253
14. Seattle 16,866
15. Riverside 14,926
Re post #71: correct, because metro Atlanta is largely white. The city of Atlanta is predominately African-American. Don't know about Fulton County (which contains Atlanta). The first thing I noticed is that ATL had no "circle" on it.

Actually this is not a ranking of how many people are flying or migrating here in each year, but rather the number of persons granted legal status. The vast majority of them are probably overstayed their visa or are illegal and have been waiting for a long time to receive legal recognition.
And just to clarify, to look up the number of people who moved to a geography from abroad, you can access that at factfinder2.census.gov under the search term "mobility".
And according to that site, here is the number of persons who moved to the 4 large metro regions between 2007-2010(only years available).
I look for DFW to join this list in the next couple years if it isn't there already. In fact, the Dallas-Plano-Irving division is already there.
I feel quite certain it is there now. At the 2010 census, it was 50.2% white. Given that the white populace represents only 12% of DFW's growth and is the slowest growing segment of DFW's population, I feel safe saying that DFW achieved minority-majority between 2010 and 2011:

Don't forget that under "White" Middle Eastern people are included. So its very much possible that DFW was in fact less White than indicated. The same can be said of the other metro areas, but I suspect the Middle Eastern population in Houston and DFW are stronger because of the oil connections.
At the end of the day, I think its safe to say that most major cities in the United States, if plopped down in most other countries in the world, would be considered cosmopolitan.

I answered No. CA because of San Francisco ... why is NYC not on the poll ?
