Weird list. Most of these cities only cater to Mexican people.
NYC, and New Jersey and maybe even Boston should be top 4 along with Miami since all three locations have arguably the most “diverse” Hispanic populations in the country.
I’d make a case that NJ, NYC, and Boston have more diverse Hispanic populations than even Miami.
That maybe true but what are we defining here as the "Capital of Hispanic America"?
Is it simply based on a "diverse" Population? If that is the case then you have a point.
Or is it based on a Hispanic Population in a City that controls most facets of Business, Government and the Media inclusive and outside of it's respective boundaries?
If the latter is true then there is no question that city is Miami.
Is it simply based on a "diverse" Population? If that is the case then you have a point.
.
But if you have to make a population very small to make it diverse then the point is moot. Atlanta, for example, has a super diverse Hispanic population but its also not that big.
Either way Boston has very, very few Mexicans so that in itself makes it not belong in the same conversation with NYC.
The Hispanic population is well sized for a city it size and has a much diverse Hispanic population. A tourist from Europe would probably be more well educated on Hispanic culture if he visited Boston vs Houston where he will primarily just experience and learn Mexican culture.
While the Mexican population makes up the majority of Houston's Hispanic population, Houston Hispanic population is actually underrated for its diversity and it is becoming more diverse each year that passes. I don't think Boston is on the level of Houston when it comes to this.
Question on LAs hispanic scene - I've hear that recent immigrants, particularly to CA, are more indigenous while the more Spanish / old money people stay in Mexico. Would it be fair to say that Central Americans in LA are more "pre Mexican" in culture? https://mixteco.org/mixtec/. There's a whole thing of indigenous vs post Spanish culture, and makes you wonder what terms like "Latino" and "Hispanic" even mean and whether they are even relevant.
I compiled a list of some of the largest Hispanic/Latino communities in Texas cities. San Antonio's hispanic population is just as diverse as the other big Texas cities, and actually ranked first for population totals in some of the ancestry groups. The demographic website where I retrieved these stats has the cities ranked by which city has the largest population in each ancestry group.

Haitians and Filipinos are “Hispanic” now?????
Portuguese I guess counts since you slipped in “Latino” one place in your post
Glad you pointed that out. That was a head scratcher.
Either way, his numbers are old.
Yeah, I mean, getting technical, many people don’t even consider Spaniards Hispanic or Latino. And technically Portuguese wouldn’t be Latino, since they aren’t from Latin America (and they definitely aren’t Hispanic since they’re not Spanish speaking).
Like any other Europeans, the few Spaniards and Portuguese that I know identity just by their country, though European seems to be their next level of preferred classification. Though it could get tricky if someone from Spain or Portugal descent grows up in the states around a lot of other Hispanic/Latino Spanish/Portuguese cultures. They may then self-identify as Hispanic and/or Latino.
The United States census excludes Haitian from Latino.
Not sure about Filipinos. I think they're also excluded.
Filipinos are Asian American/Pacific Islanders. Not sure how people don’t know this.
