Juarez has now had over 10,000 murders sense 2007. Way more than chicago. It looks like its begining to get better there although its still far worse than any American city.
Philadelphia at 119 as compared to 186 at this point last year. Down 43% in one year as the city population is finally growing again. Not great still but considering the city has had over 300 murders a year for who knows how long... I would love to see it finish under, if not close to 200. Not too shabby.

Why would Chicago be worse than that?? The media has really done a number on how bad people think the murder rate is here. You'd have to add up every year back to the early 1990's to get up to 10,000. It averaged 600-700 back until the mid 2000's, then dropped to around 450 each year.
Even our "crazy year" last year had the 9th lowest number of murders in the past 50 years....although the news outlets apparently thought that meant "record murder rate".
New Orleans at 77 after a shooting last Friday, though there was another one last night. Latest numbers I have access to are 77 compared to 102 same time last year; that extrapolates to 146 for the year.
83 vs 109 this year. Ended last year at 193, if trend holds gives us 147.
