Jersey City is part of the NYC metro, so it's getting lots of help from one of the primary financial centers of the world. If you don't see how that constitutes an unfair advantage when compared to the other cities on the list which are the primary centers of their metro areas, then I don't know what else to say.

Actually its the complete oppisite being next to NYC. If you knew anything about jersey you'd know NYC is like a black hole it sucks up all the buisness, it wont let Jersey be a part of anything. the revialization of Jersey City is because of its own smarts. Companies were reluctant to have any buisness here, only type of buisness was in manufacturing, warehouses. Those building you see all happened in the last 20-30 years because NYC is becoming too expensive. THe only advantage we have being next to NYC is we have great views of THIER skyline. So its time the tables turn.

For its smaller size, Des Moines, Iowa gets my vote.....under rated and often overlooked.

Is Indianapolis a mid-sized city? Its the 13th largest in the country in city proper population but ranks like 31st in metro population (2.2 million). It think it has a vibrant skyline for its size. Unforunately, I dont have a picture.
