You can't really compare the two since Miami is a 2.5 plane ride from NYC and Vegas is a quick 45 minute flight from LA or a 4 hour drive (with no traffic.)
A more fair comparison would be Atlantic City/NYC vs. Vegas/LA. Which the latter wins.
NYC-Miami is obviously better but the comparison is unfair. Like others have mentioned, a fair comparison would be LA + Vegas vs. New York + Atlantic City. In that case, LA + Vegas blows NYC out of the water.
It's closer to fly from LA to Miami than it is to fly from NY to Miami. So why would you even put Miami and NYC in the same category?
I agree with you, but LAX to MIA is only slightly shorter than LAX to JFK/EWR.
I could say I'm 6'10" with a 48 inch vertical, that doesn't make it so.
Las Vegas gets 26% of its tourism from one region, Southern California. Most visitors drive there.
LA/SF are more closely intertwined too (1hr, 21 minutes gate to gate).
I like Megabus. Its cheap, we can get on at Union Station (walking distance from our place), and if we get to the station a little early we can usually nab the front row of the 2nd story of the bus with those big panoramic windows. The Mojave desert makes for beautiful scenery, and letting someone else do the driving makes it all the more enjoyable.

I don't understand why some people have a hard time grasping this comparison.
You don't think Atlantic City/NYC would make more sense? It's literally a casino/gambling city within a 3hr drive from NYC, mirroring Las Vegas being a casino/gambling city within a 4hr drive of LA. AC is the EXACT eastcoast equivalent of Las Vegas(though LV is more spectacular). There's absolutely nothing about paring NYC and Miami together that makes any sense considering the existence of Atlantic City. For whatever reason, people keep equating Miami receiving plenty of tourist from NYC with Miami being this feeder city for NYC. I think Miami has just as much cultural ties with Atlanta Georgia to be honest(particularly in the Black community) Why not put together a Miami/Atlanta paring vs LA/LV instead?

This isn't a comparison of main city + city with casinos, it's a comparison between biggest and baddest on the east Vs biggest and baddest of the west and two major entertainment destinations one on the east and one of the west. Vegas and Miami both offer a lot in terms of entertainment and nightlife and cities that are 24/7. I think you may be too old to really even grasp the concept of this thread so you may find more use of your time trolling elsewhere. It's really a waste of time explaining to people who simply don't get the comparison. You may be better of posting in threads you have more knowledge in.

Because it's inane. Las Vegas is not on any coast. Miami is, but its not nearly as accessible as Vegas is to LA. Because of that geographic reality, it further asks the reader to pretend he/she owns a friggin Lear Jet. Except if you live in Los Angeles, you can't take that plane any other place except Las Vegas.

I'm not too old, your comparisons just suck. The only thing similar between Miami and NYC is their placing on the eastcoast. Miami is too dang far to be paired with NYC.
