Never been to either but I'm assuming Lakewood offers the more walkable lifestyle over the Grosse Pointe towns. I would prefer the Detroit MSA to Cleveland but it's not a humongous difference for a short term relocation (which I will pretend this would be), so Lakewood!

San Diego v Fort Lauderdale
I'm really not intrigued by either but I'd rather live in CA than FL. Could I go to Fort Lauderdale temporarily while my sister is still there and then go on to San Diego when she moves next year?
Providence because I used to love watching that TV show.
Rochester, MN or Rochester, NY?
Rochester, NY... prefer the city with the bigger metro, location on Lake Ontario, and access to Syracuse and Buffalo within an hour and a half. If Rochester, MN was a little bit closer to the Twin Cities then that might tip the scales for me.

Grand Junction, CO or Redding, CA?
That's tough. I'd probably go with Redding because it's a little greener, milder winters, lower in elevation (I've noticed negative effects from living at 5,000' for the past year) and maybe has fresher food being in California? I've driven through Grand Junction before and it felt a little depressing.

Dayton, OH vs. Iowa City, IA
Dayton. It is much less isolated than Iowa City and is close to some interesting hiking and outdoor scenery.
Location: northern Vermont - previously NM, WA, & MA

Albany, NY or Allentown, PA?
Albany, I like the location close to Vermont, Berkshires, and Adirondacks, 2.5 train ride to NYC. Empire State Plaza is kind of a mid 20th century urban planning nightmare, but there are some charming blocks of rowhomes nearby.
