Ann Arbor, I like the Detroit metro & I'd rather be in Michigan than Kansas.

Flint, MI or Newark, NJ?

Newark. It has stronger bones than many outside it know, and its downtown is definitely on the mend. Its No. 1 corporate citizen, The Prudential Insurance Company of America, has also shown a stronger and more consistent commitment to Newark than the company that was born there, General Motors, has shown to Flint.

Were Newark anywhere other than a 15-minute train ride from Manhattan, we would consider it a major metropolitan center in its own right.

Richmond, Va., or New Orleans, La.?

New Orleans. I actually have a very favorable impression of Richmond, and if I were to become more familiar with it I could see it being quite high on my list...but don't think it could surpass NOLA which is one of a relatively short list of cities that I intend to live in at some point in the future.

Buffalo v Grand Rapids

Jersey City... more desirable neighborhoods and greater proximity to Manhattan.

Lansing, MI or State College, PA?

Lansing. Larger and more to do.

Cleveland...better downtown, better restaurant scene and the metro parks.

Rock Hill, SC or Florence, KY (both are decent size cities that are part of a larger MSA where that major city is across the state line from it.)

Florence KY - one, because I've been there; two, I feel like it has more things around it that would keep me interested. Seems like with Rock Hill, I'd focus heavily on Charlotte for my recreational fun.

Fort Lauderdale, FL or Tampa, FL?

For me it would be Ft Lauderdale...it's more gay friendly as it's got one of the highest concentrations of LGBT residents in FL.

Asheville, NC or Boulder, CO

Oooooh....good one. Both are beautiful. For me Asheville because of the more temperate weather and closer proximity to family.

Harrisburg, PA or Wilmingston, DE?
