That's crazy. Do you think its gonna go the whole year at zero?
Just wanted to throw in the most recent number for Detroit: 60/8.82
This puts it about on par with cities like Hartford, CT and Cincinatti, OH - which while not the best company are certainly far better company than the usual company of Baltimore, New Orleans, East St. Louis, etc. I can't find any statistics for Flint, MI. I know they had a real rough start to the year, but I have not seen the city in the local news as much lately for violent crime though, so that's a good thing, right?

This is good for Detroit..Its usually worse than Baltimore and St, Louis and trade spots with New Orleans.
When I went to school Baltimore would have about 237-280 murders, now its up to 320+. I guess life is getting cheaper and cheaper.
Same as usual, South Richmond is one of the most dangerous places on the East Coast. The most recent killings have come from Northside and VCU area, bit the Southside carries the brunt of violence in Richmond. They and the East End account for probably 65-70% of the violent crime in Richmond...
In other news, what's going on in Raleigh? You guys have had three murders in three days to start May, pushing the YTD total to 7/1.55---guy killed his grandma in Southeast Raleigh, guy stabbed at intersection in Ssoutheast Raleigh, guy shot on April 19th in East Raleigh died two days ago. April was full of shootings in Raleigh, I can't find exact numbers but I believe there were over 15 nonfatal shootings in Raleigh in April. As you know, that's considered a lot of shootings in Raleigh!
Charlotte had a murder suicide yesterday for its 32nd. 32/3.87...Greensboro had a guy killed yesterday afternoon; 13/4.56...

Detroit and especially Michigan are doing quite well the past few years. Michigan is up 550,000 jobs since its low point during the recession.
There's a light rail line opening right through the heart of Detroit next week, the city's first, and there is billions of investment going on in the central areas of the city, it's crazy when you look at everything happening there.
My in-laws live there and I asked them how they feel about the metro, they said it feels more stable and strong than it has in ages.
I think that has an impact on some crime numbers and why they're going down. People feel stable, the unemployment rate is down, jobs are being created quickly, the city has momentum and people get a bit of optimism.
