These numbers have to be wrong. They just...don't look right. We need the actual census more than ever. I believe numbers are being underestimated now. The growth rates in every metro has slowed down. Philly metro literally grew by 1k. What....?
Seriously. If immigration doesn't increase, this country will never see 3% GDP growth again. I'm truly shocked. These aren't really numbers you want to see. I said when the state estimates came out, but there are some metros who truly live and die by foreign immigration. NY and LA metro posting losses comes from the fact that outgoing domestic migration is too high.
-66,000 domestic for Cook County is a crazy number as well. Also, most of these are still posting a natural increase (even if a bit less than past years), so if we're transitioning to a European/East Asian population model, we haven't seen anything yet.
I'm going to go ahead and edit my list post a few posts up to include all areas that are MSAs over 1 million people.
Such all across the board depressing numbers. Even the boomtowns, depressing. Seattle is the only winner this year. It actually posted a sleek but slight acceleration compared to last year. It's CSA is likely around + 100,000 now because it's MSA is just barely shy of 70,000.
Miami only increased by 54,000 this year. It still should pass Philadelphia by the 2017 estimate next March. But Austin had a faster growing raw number growth than Miami. Both Orlando and Austin were on fire last year. Posting near 60,000 people in raw growth for metros under 2.5 million.

Did the Memphis MSA lose population??? 1,344,127 was the 2015 estimate.
Raleigh did indeed jump Louisville easily and it will probably leap Memphis in the 2018 estimate if that Memphis report is correct.
Philly has one more year at #7 over # Miami. We knew that one would be close but I'm surprised that Miami didn't jump it this year.
