Lincoln unfortunately saw its first murder of the year today. Someone was shot and left laying on the sidewalk.

This decade belonged to Chicago
2010 - 2019 had Chicago written all over it,with a few deadly year's from Baltimore and St Louis.

It's kinda interesting to see historically dangerous cities like Detroit, Oakland and New Orleans go cold for a few years but in reality it's a good thing.

If we're talking history, than this has been one of the least dangerous decade's compared to other era's, It's just social media hypes everything up today.

If Twitter and YouTube was around in the 90's when New York was dropping 2000 bodies, it would've shut the internet down.

But times change and technology has completely turned a few big cities into police state's where gentrification has taken over.

Chicago was at the forefront this decade because it was the "murder capital" ,meaning it had the highest number of murders, regardless of homicide rate. I'm not 100% sure but I think Chicago will continue to see a drop in murders in the next few years. With Philly and Baltimore occupying #2 and 3 in numbers with rising homicide rates, within a year or two, one of these cities will become the new murder capital. They still have a similar number of homicides though so we may have 2 "co-murder capitals".
