Lol,, I guess on some points but Nashville ain't trying, its doing and my feelings are real sinse I have experienced Nashville on a full out level, Visiting like every other month and staying on different parts of town and experiencing the city on a city district level and not just a basic tourist trap type level.. On the density thing, I can see how Nashville is becoming more dense by the day as massive amounts of new lofts are being built in the City plus neighborhoods that had old ranch style homes on a lot are being torn down and 2 to 3 brand new row style homes are put on that one lot... I don't know why its expected for people to like and give Atlanta credit by default and if you don't the world ends or what you say isn't credible,, this is new to me.. The biggest thing that I can see IMO that Atlanta has on Nashville is it has more edge cities that holds its own major centers of population while Nashville has mainly one, Cool Springs, plus Atlanta has a more developed public transit system current day but all else, doesn't move much to be honest. I know every inch of Atlanta, from the city to the Ghetto burbs to the suburbs and have lived on every part of town and have been around all the people so believe me I know,, Atlanta just ain't that superior or special.. but if this is what you like, have at it but don't try to talk down on a city and then in the next try to elevate your self to the Chi and NY level,, makes no sense

Atlanta's combined urban areas are considerably larger than Nashville's though. Downtown and midtown are fully navigable on foot, literally from one end to the other. That's a HUGE area.

This is interesting. What are you going to do once you really start to know Nashville intimately like you do ATL? There are a ton that ATL can improve on or should adopt. There are a handful of cities that I'd take over ATL but Atlanta and Nashville are in separate weight classes...just like ATL and CHI, NY, SF, LA are in different classes. I really don't see many areas where Nashville excel over Atlanta, I'm willing to learn about it more though.

Nashville has more than Cool Springs, which is not a real city, but a designation for office and commercial development. Major edge cities include Brentwood, Franklin, and Murfreesboro currently. Emerging edge cities include Hendersonville, Spring Hill, and Mt. Juliet which are adding unprecedented growth. I don't think anyone in this thread has tried to talk down to Nashville, but they may just be ignorant to all of what's happening in the Nashville region. When posters use the old country music/Broadway stereotypes, they are typical dead giveaways that the individual doesn't really know Nashville.

I think it was how I was grouping them, like here in Atlanta, the Perimeter area is actually made up of the true cities of Dunwoody and Sandy Springs like Cool springs with Franklin and Brentwood but I totally agree!

A lot of Nashville posters put off an inferiority complex vibe with regard to Atlanta.

I don't understand that. Nashville is Nashville just like Atlanta is Atlanta.

Cool Springs reminds me a lot of a young Perimeter area. Murfreesboro reminds me of Marietta/Kennesaw. Murfreesboro-Franklin needs another connector with all of the growth taking place. Right now we have I-840 and a very dangerous two lane highway 96. They keep building new homes, but there are no new roads or exits.
