It's interesting because of its size, but its not attractive because of its beauty.
I don't agree. NYC's skyline is beautiful and as a Chicagoan I have no problem admitting that. The Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building remind me of a time that I never got to experience - when Dobbs on 5th Ave was the place to go for hats, ornate movie palaces still meant something, bartenders knew how to make an old-fashioned, and even when times were tough you never left home without a well-tailored suit.
I actually haven't voted in this poll and I refuse to because both skylines are great. I love them both. Ripping on a skyline or a city is childish...until we start designing, financing or building these skyscrapers we're all just pedestrians.
When dementor brings up his facade argument, I wonder if he knows how skyscrapers are built in this country. This isn't Dubai or China where skyscrapers are built by the government...all of them are privately financed and built based upon demand.

Yet China has been bankrolling and buying up business space for awhile now in the u.s.

Well, one of the most beautiful buildings I have ever seen is Manhattan Municipal Building, definetely a skyscraper and definetely financed by the city government in 1912. Be careful with generalizations.
We are talking so much about architecture and great skylines but what about building that actually make this skyline what it is. I will post some of NY's "pearls" with dates they were erected.. Not a skyscraper but please notice the scale when looking at the people standing in front of the church...
NYC has quite a bit more interesting architecture than Chicago...Chicago just places the majority of its gems by the lake for the view. NYC is a beast.
Chicago vs. NYC? lol. everyone knows chicago is second class compared to ny and the only people who say otherwise are the unfortunate souls who happen to there.
