The mountains in the L.A. area are tall enough that it can be below freezing on the higher peaks with several feet of snow and 90 degrees on the valley floor far below on the same day.

Well, maybe you will figure it out eventually.
Nice photos, Calove and Golden. Here is one I took back in Feb., 2004 from the top of Mission Point in Granada Hills. A small portion of the Pacific Ocean is visible in the distance, left of center.
No, I don't think think posting beautiful pictures of LA is going to make the San Gabriels compare to the Colorado Rockies. Sorry, not many people will think that.

Well, let's compare. The highest peak in the San Gabriels is Mt. San Antonio (also known as Mt. Baldy) at 10,064 feet which is 48 miles from downtown Los Angeles.
What is the highest peak which is in the county of Denver? Or maybe less than 50 miles from Denver.
I was just posting pics of LA from the hills and mountains if its the San Gabriels you want..
There not the Rockies but they are hardly hills..even to an ignorant Denverite.
Those certainly are mountains! I really like that second photo.

How did a thread about Houston & L.A. turn into pictures of Colorado?
