Haha I love the cool ocean temps in L.A. and the waves do not get boring after a few min. Of course I've had a couple instances where I get so thrown around that I don't know which way is up, but thats fun. Once you get used to the water (5-10 mins) It feels warm anyway.
Yes Miami. We have a boat with a retractable roof and a closed cabin underneath. So even if it is raining the boat can be used. Plus Miami is a beautiful tropical paradise it is beautiful when you see the white sand, the palm trees, and the crystal clear water.
I love thunderstorms and hot temperatures, so Miami. Plus, I prefer humidity to dry heat anyday. LA is too smoggy, the beaches aren't that nice, and the marine layer is very ugly. Plus, I hate the endless 63 degree days during winter and spring. I'll take a small amount of freak cold days in Miami over long, boring cool days for months on end. The only thing SoCal has on Miami during summer is maybe more sunshine and cooler, pleasant nights, though I also love muggy nights so doesn't matter to me. MIA for the win!
For me Miami is too hot most of the time and way too sticky, humid and buggy. I love LA's winters the most. 60s, ocassional 80s and some rain. LA for me.

Los Angeles doesn't have endless 63 degree days during the winter and spring. It can range from the 30s for the overnight minimum to 90+ for the afternoon maximum. As the chart posted earlier shows, the average maximum for LA in January is 68 degrees.

Well, many of those days are still in the lower 60s during the day on the water, and warmer nights on the water. I'm not only speaking of downtown, which is inland. Besides, it is still just a bit endlessly mild for my taste.
I take LA's warm weather, 85 - 90 degree summer days some days higher with some humidity and 65 - 75 degree nights with ocean breeze, and low 70 degree winter days with 50 - 60 degree nights with sunshine year round except for a couple weeks in winter when the showers reach LA. AS for water temperatures in LA all year the water is cold except in June -September when you get used to it after five minutes of being exposed to it, and in August the water temperatures reach their highest temp. around 73 degrees , but ofcourse dropping down at night to the high 60s (still cold compared to Miami, but comfortable).
I can see why people would say Miami because I might have said the same thing years ago. But something happened to me after living in LA for the last two decades. Most of the rest of the country outside of coastal California is now unlivable. I could maybe adjust and live somewhere that's cool or even cold, but no way that I would choose hot and humid again.
it can get cold here during winter evenings, but the local topography trumps Miami any day.
