I was surprised to learn that most of those palm trees along the streets in southern california would all die out pretty quickly since they aren't native to that area. They need a LOT of water, and obviously most of the LA area is naturally a more desert landscape as opposed to palms and greenery due to the constant irrigation.

Washingtonia's are native to the southwest and northern Mexico. They are very hardy and live on minimal water.
The CA palms are alot taller. Florida has more variety though.
California palms are alot taller and I feel for that reason are far more impressive then Florida palms. I have experienced both states first hand as I have lived in Long Beach, CA and Orlando, FL and in palm trees California wins this one.

Because they are taller? Thats it? That is the only reason you can come up with why California's are better? CA's are more taller because they only really have Washingtonia plams which naturally grow higher.
(Santa Ana CA)
But Florida not only has Washingtonias that grow high,
(Tampa FL)
Also in Tampa
but also the Majestic Royal palms that CA does not or rarly has
(Palm Beach FL)
And Florida's native Sabels
(Tampa FL)
And how many times do you see Palms growing without human intervention in CA like in FL?
(Outside Orlando FL)
Are those the ones with the orange tops? I have a picture of one from Orlando, I saw a lot there.
