The top one doesn't look like rowhouses. Rowhouses are attached to each other.

By the way, is that the same place they had part of the intro to Full House at? It looks familiar.

Yes they are. Is there a reason why people think SF posters are lying about them being rowhouses? It's kind of odd for people to continually say "no, they're not" when they are.

It's pretty clear to me from this aerial shot that they are connected in the back so not sure why they don't count as rowhouses.

I grew up in in Queens, and to be honest, the San Francisco homes pictured do not look to me like typical rowhouses either. Because of their rooflines, they look more like individual houses that were bumped up to each other.

In Queens, rowhouses usually have a more or less solid front with the neighboring houses and most of the time, the roof of the house is flat. Brooklyn, Philadelphia and Baltimore seem to many of these houses, although the architecture is often very different. For instance, one thing I noticed is that rowhouses in Queens, the older ones anyway, are often made out of wood versus brick and stone in Brooklyn. Perhaps because Brooklyn was a city they had stronger fire codes than Queens which was still the boondocks before WW1?

Anyway to cut a long story short, the San Francisco houses pictured above may or not be rowhouses, but they look quite different from what other cities would call a rowhouse.

Whether they are rowhouses or not, it's a little funny to me how many photos you see (not just on this thread) of just those same 6 houses on Alamo Square in SF, as if the whole city looks like that.

If you think rowhouses are rare in San Francisco then you haven't been in much of the city.
