Clearly, the San Gabriel mountain exist. There are there, but covered in smog and haze. IIRC, the poster who brought up "mountains" was referring to the "mountain of skyscrapers" you see when crossing into Manhattan. Clearly, the San Gabriel mountains are far, far taller than any New York skyscraper. When did I ever say otherwise?
Point is, I was comparing the clear shot of the snow capped Mt. San Antonio shot to the New York skyline shot. I have never in my entire life seen snow capped mountains as crystal clear as your photograph depicted. That clear shot of snow capped mountain is the result of a powerful telephoto lens and photoshop.
I think you are taking everything too literal.
Montclair18: "Nothing beats real mountains"
Me: Generally, but New York is an exception. (As in, the New York skyline is more popular than the San Gabriel mountains and I'm sure lots prefer it to the San Gabriel mountains)
I know what ur trying to say but real mountains can't be beat.
Keep the mountains! I'll take the ultimate urban experience
My list would go:
1. New York City
2. Chicago
3. Los Angeles
4. Toronto
Aside from that, in North America I'd much rather live in "smaller" cities like Boston, San Francisco, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Montreal, or Vancouver/Seattle (very similar cities in similar areas).
I agree with Montclair about the mountain effect in Chicago too. Chi-town has the more jagged mountains in that regard...so beautiful.
LOL, that picture made me laugh. How misleading and ridiculous. It's obviously altered with a telephoto lens and was tweaked/adjusted with photoshop. So, no New York's skyline wouldn't be swallowed by anything if it was moved to LA.
I have never in my life seen the the Mt. San Antonio mountains like that. It's covered by smog and haze. 99% of the time, LA looks like this:
Certainly no New York.
You guys are buying his crap? You can't see the mountains in that pic because it's TAKEN FROM the mountains. I can see the mountains almost every day unless it's foggy (even smog usually doesn't block them) from my area all the way out by LAX.
However, I voted Toronto. It's like a cleaner and safer version of NYC.
My list is
Toronto and NYC
LA
Chicago
Mexico City
If this was world, it woul be Tel Aviv. It has nice hot summers and chilly winters (not like NYC or Chicago or Toronto, but colder than LA at night). The urban lifestyle is what I like with NYC. Beautiful beaches. Liberal culture.
