Wrong mayor. I think you're trying to refer to Mayor Tom Barrett of Milwaukee, who actually was recently involved in such an incident back in August:

I like Louisville. I think that city could really go somewhere in the future.

Did someone seriously say Breckenridge? LOL, it's a city of 2,500 people. I stopped reading that post immediately.

You might want to do a little investigating into where your property taxes go. Public schools are most certainly not "free". They are very much paid for.

"1/3 gentrified Yuppie playground" = People just trying to work for a living and enjoy their lives while building a future for their children. Yup ! Please let gentrification take over the other 2/3rds and not the other way around. I've lived in and seen the alternative... I'll take the northside neighborhoods over any alternative. Seems pretty damn ignorant to aim low.

I pay $500/mo property taxes that pay for those 'free' public schools.

Columbus is certainly experiencing a robust building boom, most notably in the city centre. The unemployment rate in the area isn't too bad either ... the city is actually well known to be quite resilient during periods of any recession, due to it's diverse economic base and having a large federal and state government presence.
It feels and looks alot like a "sunbelt" city.

^Sure felt "Southern" when I was there.....at least compared to the Northern cities I have become accustomed to.

^Okay, now I know I'm not crazy. I was just up there and Columbus could have easily been another city in TX or NC to me. And I don't mean that in a bad way, it just seemed much more stable and economically better than the other cities up there. Plus, it does sort of have a "Southern" vibe. It's just that it wasn't a major culture shock to be there.
