Ciudad Juarez reported 17 murders yesterday and that brings up their total for the year so far up to 78 murders.

I'm not sure about Fresno, but I think we have at least one for the year so far.
San Jose, California, as of 4/16/10 has had 5 homicides. Low for such a large city, and lower than average compared with previous years YTD

Why don't you see crime everywhere in places like Baldwin Hills?

It's a social and economic issue, not a race issue.
But it's not that simple. It kind of all fits together. The way people act affects their social and economic status. There are certain behavior patterns among people of different races.

I'm sure more middle class black areas like Baldwin Hills probably have fewer single parent housholds than among blacks as a whole, for instance. Fewer single parent housholds=higher social and economic status and less crime. Unfortunately, 70% of black children today are born into single parent households, which is probably a major reason why blacks are more likely to be both perpetrators and victims of violent crime.

even though nyc had 1 less murder this week as compared to the same week in 2009 i would say nyc was calm this week as compared to last year especially with the large increase of crime from 09 - 2010
I am eager to find out how this year turns out. Might this be our first annual crime increase since 1990?

Russia is by and large more dangerous than the US. So I guess, whites have those "behavior patterns" you speak of.

I don't think you noticed that you contradicted yourself. If your equating single parent households to higher violent crime rates, than that would make the violence have nothing to do with race.

Also your first statement is backwards. People's social and economic status affects the way they act.

Which has jack-all to do with them being black. This really is not a difficult concept: in order for race to be a driver of crime, you would have to show that, controlling for all other external factors, black individuals have a higher propensity for committing violent criminal acts than individuals of other races. Raw statistics showing that black people commit more violent crime does not answer that question.

Russia, Mexico and South Africa are all nations with extraordinarily high rates of violent crime, and yet the predominant race is each of them is different. To my non-statistically attuned mind, this speaks to drivers of crime having less to do with race than other factors, such as social and economical.
