Wow, those haircuts look terrible.

I was just in Chicago for a few months and didn't see any of those haircuts, and I was in the hoods I saw many gang members.

Growing up in Chicago I know for a fact Chicago has a huge issue with gangs and violence in general. Does that make it an undesirable city, nope. Its still one of the best cities in the nation if not the best. Just like any other city you find out what areas to avoid and never bother with them and you will be fine.
