Honestly, there is no NYC of the South and Miami IS a Southern city.

Atlanta NYC of the south lol now that funny. NYC metro contains well over 18 million folks Atlanta barely scrapes 5 million. The largest metro in the south doesn't even come close NYC. Not a good example POLO.

I'm laughing at the Austin votes. Austin may have energy and it may be vibrant, but it is not the MOST vibrant city. I thought that was just a given.

Well if we do not include Miami as the "South", it is a close call between Charleston, Atlanta, and Nashville, or New Orleans (heck even Memphis has serious atmosphere)... This is a tough one.

Sorry, it was a hit and a miss.

There isn't a monolithic southern culture. New Orleans is not like Houston, Houston is not like Dallas, Dallas is not like Charleston, Charleston is not like Raleigh, Raleigh is not like Nashville. But of course you disagree.

Well, maybe not too far off. The largest metros in the South are DFW, Houston, Miami, and Atlanta. Relatively speaking, Atlanta as the NYC of the South may not be too far off. If you think Northeast city, I'm sure you think of NYC. If you think South/Southeast city, I'm sure Atlanta comes to your mind.

You should really try to clarify your view on "vibrant".

If you're really just going for the most bustling, active population, Miami is probably going to come out ahead, but many of these cities would overtake it if you included cultural diversity, economic trends, city-sponsored events, local flora, etc.

Miami would actually still be quite far up there using this criteria.
