Boston for culture, history, finance, medicine, transportation, education.
Sacramento for politics.
Agree on Boston with the exception of transportation, which definately goes to Atlanta, imo. Culture is pretty subjective, but I'll give the nod to Boston on that one. The rest just can't be argued.

Transportation to Atlanta?! I suppose it depends on what type of transportation. If we're talking about highways, Atlanta is superior to Boston. But public transportation? MARTA vs the T is not even a comparison...like...it's not even close haha.

Um, no. Atlanta has awful transit. Atlanta is not livable without a car.

No, I was talking transportation as a whole, including the logistics industry, the Airport and being the nexus of Interstates for the region.
Having the HQ's of UPS and Delta is of course included in this.
As far as public transit goes, no comparison at all. MARTA is the 9th largest agency in the U.S., but yeah - that is a clear and total win for Boston in that particular category.

Awful transit that still happens to transport over 500,000 people a day. There is higher rail ridership here than several of our peer cities combined.
Considering how this is the only large public transit agency in the U.S. that does not receive ONE DIME of support by it's State - and is also hamstrung by their rules, MARTA does a damn good job.
Not too many cities out there that can offer a direct, single-seat ride from the Airport to four of it's five main business districts.
Living here without a car is absolutely doable, if you live and work in the right locations. It may not be easy, but it is certainly doable.
You have no idea of what you are talking about here.
