I'm surprised there aren't any Phoenix advocates. The city is large, but it does come in behind Boston and Atlanta on history and metro area.

Right now, Phoenix IS being noticed by our southern neighbors in Mexico. So states can have some influence on the international scene.

I think he's talking about the city themselves...not the state which they represent...otherwise the question would have been "what is the most important state?"
