Setting socio-political entanglements aside, foreign-pop immigration is what has propped up other American cities if for nothing else than in the population department (cough cough Chicago).

That being said I think the core of all growth is going to be jobs. Even back in the day the Slavs weren't coming over here for a change of pace, they came here to work.

Default Global Cleveland Summit

This is an exciting initiative for Cleveland. I was at the Summit. Many good ideas, lots of excitement and plans for next steps. Plenty of big Cleveland companies/organizations and the Mayor's office are on board. This could be a great thing for our economy and the energy of the City of Cleveland.

One thing to note is that the initiative includes not just attracting immigrants to Cleveland, but also attracting people from all over the country, including "boomerangers," people who grew up here and want to come home. That is the low hanging fruit, in my opinion, because so many people feel a strong attachment to Cleveland and would be open to considering coming home if they were reminded about all the City has to offer (including plenty of jobs according to groups like JumpStart).
