Lots of food destinations for a native to add to a foodie bucket list as well! Great article!

One thing that is amazing about Cleveland in the past decade is that my bucket list keeps growing despite my determined effort to shrink it!

E.g., a couple weeks ago, I visited Spice Kitchen & Bar at 5800 Detroit Ave. for the first time. It's located across the street from the original Happy Dog. Parking is sparse (only a small lot behind the restaurant), but the food and service was very good. Spice is surprisingly easily reached from the east side.

Spice has received national publicity for its owner-mandated locavore cuisine.

I remember watching the "CBS Sunday Morning" story back in the summer time. It was pretty good.

Of the 10 cities listed, Cleveland has by far the best high culture/pro sports profile.

And yet, you all pooh-pooh the idea that gentrification is coming......how long until others in overpriced cities (like Seattle) become aware of all this like I did? Great cultural amenities, beautiful parks, sports teams, low housing prices.....I tell you, it's coming....(ok, check back with me in a couple years and see if I was right!) A business columnist at the Seattle Times (John Talton) a few months back wrote a column for the younger generation suggesting good, affordable places to relocate outside of Seattle...not sure Cleveland was actually on the list...he called them "second tier" cities, I believe...but if he didn't include Cleveland, he should have!

What do you mean by gentrification? And why are you talking about it like it's a wholly bad thing? There is no way Cleveland is going to experience what has happened in SF, Seattle, Portland or Brooklyn if that's what you're worried about.

Plus, Greater Cleveland could absorb a ton of population growth before it becomes "toxic" or overcrowded. I'd love to see a bunch of areas redeveloped and stabilized.

Jon Talton in this column said the best housing deals are in the Great Lakes region.

I looked through his columns back through June, and this is the closest that I could find to what you referenced. BTW, it would be wonderful if Greater Cleveland had a single journalist of Talton's quality. The quality of journalism in Greater Cleveland is an immense drag on the region's potential IMO.
