I think one of the big problems was A&M was always in the shadow of UT. It was always viewed as "UT's little brother" in the state-- in both academics, and sports. This pissed those aggies off.
While I don't think anyone believes OSU is "OU's little brother." And it certainly isn't in the shadow of OU. Academics at OSU and OU aren't separated by much-- but obviously their sports success are world's apart.
Anyway, I think it is clear to everyone in this thread that the SEC should have added Georgia Southern. But I'm not sure LSU and Florida could handle losing to Georgia Southern every year. In every sport.
Another good choice for the SEC would have been the Sam Houston State Bearcats! But that team would have dominated the conference too.
Or maybe they should have added the CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolves...
Well, good riddance to A&M. I hate to lose 'em, but they are a real pain in in the backside. Now they can go bother those SEC folks.
As a Gator fan, I feel the SEC made a great choice with Mizzou, besides it being part of the AAU along with Florida, Vandy, and A&M, the unique thing it brings to the SEC is that it may be the coldest state in the SEC! I heard it get really cold up there! And another reason Mizzou a good fit for the SEC is that they have a winning record vs the SEC, with that said I was very excited about them coming!
