I'm about 5K and finishing my associates next year. If i can get my foot in the door somewhere and make more then a call center, i will no longer take loans for school.

Took me 5.5 years for a BS in Civil Engineering.
With PT work, internships, grants and scholarships, the total loan I had by the time I graduated was a little less than $30k.

After a 6 year stint to get my BFA in Photography, I owe roughly $50K... but most of my loans were also to help me purchase art supplies and photographic equipment. I had to pay for all of my schooling myself, working either full or part time also while attending school and paying rent at an apartment (cheaper, wayyy cheaper than the dorms).

Also, I took a year off to have my son and had to get an emergency loan to go back and finish my final year. Should seriously be about $10K less than it is... but I wanted to finish my degree.

I voted based on myself and my fiancee's student loans together. We have a degree in history (me) and a degree in philosophy (her), a law degree (her), along with living expenses during this time (since 2/3rds of these degrees were made while living out of state). It adds up to about 87,000. We're both paying double payments on our loans but I still have grad school to go, so I for see a similar number.

I owe ~75k. 17k of that was for a previous stint in college when I got a couple of associates degrees. The rest is for getting my BSME. Funny thing is the 17k is what is really expensive. It is from private loans so the interest is around 10% and they only spread the payments over 10 years. Hoping to pay that off sooner.

All worth it. Although looking back I could have done it differently and saved 20k on my BS.

Right @ 10K now. BS Econ. Worked all 5 years (yes, 5 years , took 12hrs/semester 80% of the time and worked about 30-50hrs/week)

I kind of lucked out, though, In state tuition for public colleges in NC is pretty cheap. (I think tuition was $1750/semester for classes)

Default About $21K

I'm still finishing up my undergrad, but by the time I'm finished I will owe about $21K?

I'm a dual major in elementary and special education with a concentration in american studies. I'm attending a state college (SUNY on Long Island) so I can't complain about my debt. I'm actually pretty lucky!
