Just in my limited travels, I know that Albertson's and King Soopers both have pre-made deli type salads.... but I haven't seen any salad bars, per se.

That would be cool, though!

And as far as Trader Joes, I think I figured out why they aren't here..... Amatuer Opinion: You have no liquor sold in grocer's, only stocked liquor stoes. Took me a week to figure this out. I finally asked a grocer at the store, why no wine but beer?? He explained.....

Then I went OOHHHHHH, Trader Joe's sells liquor on two isles, at a good markup though still a good deal. Why would they want to be here? Maybe talk them into a sepereate side store with a door to close on Sundays? Workable solution maybe....

Liquor stores are allowed to sell on Sundays now...but yeah, in part because of the grocery/liquor connection, some stores wont set up shop here. World Market offers wine at their Cherry Creek location in Denver and Target has one store up in Denver (IIRC) that also sells wines.

Also, you can only own one liquor store per person/company here. Some families get around that buy owning several separate liquor stores per adult family member.

No problem. I haven't been there in years but there's also The Lettuce Head on Galley near where the bar The Gardens used to be - off Circle on the southeast corner. Good, small place with more than just salads but good soups and sandwiches too.

I think you hit the nail on the head that a salad bar in most grocerystores is probably a labor sucking, food wasting venture for most stores. Places like Whole Foods offer so many different options for pre-made food that you can eat right there so it makes sense for them.

I don't know if The Vitamin Cottage and it's grocery department has a salad bar or not and not sure if Sunflower Market has made it's way down here either. - looking at Sunflower's website it looks like it's opening in 2009 at the old Long's Drugs location at the corner of Dublin and Academy...

OMGoodness. Trader Joe's what a wonderful store. While shopping at Whole Foods today my husband and I were talking about all the wonderful foods from Trader Joe's that we miss. Enchiladas and Sarsparilla. What is Sunflower Market?

Conejo Valley Girl - Sunflower Farmers Markets - Home Page (http://www.sfmarkets.com/retailer/store_templates/shell_id_1.asp?storeID=69610B99DE2C416A84CC8693150 E7216 - broken link) - you can learn more about them on their website.

The are a smaller chain to hit the market that competes with Whole Foods (organics, small farmer participation as much as possible, etc..).

You can find more with a Google Search:

I'm fairly certain the newly reopened King Soopers near Academy/Austin Bluffs has a soup and salad bar. I think I remember seeing one when I was there a couple weeks ago.
