Thanks Mike, I would like to remove them completely, having them rot in the ground can take up years and definitely don't want to pour any chemicals in the ground.

Bright - I'm in the UK and need to arrange everything from here, hence I'm trying to post here as I thought locals from the area would be able to suggest tradesmen / local solutions.

Most any man with an excavator / back-hoe could pull them up; such equipment is owned by landscapers, tree firms, excavation contractors, and many farmers / ranchers.

Suggest you put a free ad in the Craigslist Pueblo forum, under Services, in the farm/garden sub-area, seeking advice or help. You can also search those forums using keywords like "stump" etc.

Viktor, there are many active Facebook groups throughout the SLV for services and items for sale. Most are based out of Alamosa but there are members from throughout the valley in them. This will likely be the best avenue for you to connect with people. The Pueblo Craigslist will occasionally have SLV-specific content but generally people in the valley don't use Craigslist because there isn't a relevant subsection for that area.

If you don't have Facebook, I recommend creating an account just for joining these many groups. You will learn much more there than you will be able to here. Facebook is terrible for many reasons, but it excels at connecting people in remote places. Were it not for SLV-specific pages and groups I would have already deleted my account.

I'm unfortunately not on any kind of social media by choice - never had facebook - but will take a look, I might be able to see pages or will ask someone to help, definitely a good idea.

I never thought people are this isolated, somehow I was under the impression this thread would be full of locals from Blanca / Fort Garland / Alamosa area.

Not surprising since most new people in the SLV go there to drop-out from society and "live off the land".

Alamosa is four hours away from Denver. Out here, that is fairly isolated.

Here is a comparison; the San Luis valley is around 8000 square miles, or the equivalent size of Wales. In contrast, the San Luis Valley has around 17,000 people that live there while Wales has over 3 million. It is a very rural area and while I wouldn't say they are tech adverse, they are very tech selective. Even if you have chosen to avoid social media, you may need to go there if you want a more local interface that what you are finding here. The Valley does not always fit social conventions in many ways.

As far as I can tell I'm one of the few active posters on this forum that actually lives in the SLV. However since I don't live in that corner even I'm limited with how much specific info I can give you.

I do understand the hesitation to get on Facebook. It's a toxic environment that is mostly just people arguing about politics, however the SLV-specific groups on there are invaluable for people out here. You hear about local events and news much more quickly and more easily than you can even with the newspapers out of Alamosa and Center. It's also the number one place I go to learn about any businesses and people providing services. They're how I found my wood delivery person and also how I've learned about who to avoid, too.

If you do get on Facebook and have trouble connecting to groups, PM me and I'll help you get in some of the main ones.

Hey Inter, seems that's the way then.

I just thought there would be more people here from the area and since Blanca and Fort Garland are tiny and Alamosa is very small too, I'd think people now most tradespeople by name.

I'm from a similarly sized town ( around 9k people ) and they all know local tradesmen etc.

Do you guys have any advice how / where to store tools / materials etc. as we begin doing work ? Power tools, hand tools such as chainsaw or hammer.

Self storage or anything similar ? The ideal solution would be to build a shed but as I understand we'd need a permit which we can only get after we have a construction permit for a house.

Thanks!
