Well, as most of you know, it will be Hickenlooper vs. Gardner this November for the U.S. Senate seat.

However, according to the following articles, Hickenlooper "bumbled" when he supposedly bungled a question about BLM by reiterating the "All Lives Matter" stance. CNN said that this was a wrong move and will spell trouble for him in November, but I would think that this was a smart move as those in the middle would be more likely to vote for him, and that could mean an even bigger victory if he wins (and I personally think he will).

What is your opinion?

MODS: If this belongs on the P&OC forum, please move. Thanks.

He'll be fine in November. I'm pretty sure a hardened white cow chip could beat Gardner. If I were Cory Gardner, I'd be actively distancing myself from Trump. He's nuclear waste at this point.

It can stay here as long as it stays focused on Colorado.

If the thread goes national I may move it to "Elections" or I may delete posts that aren't focused on Colorado.

I don't think he bungled anything. I hope he wins. Seems impossible to dislike Hick; hoping for a landslide.

I thought this too, but then I saw that Trump is still quite popular with Colorado Republicans. Gardner didn't want to alienate them because they are his base. Unfortunately for him they are less than a 3rd of the state. It might have been smart since Colorado Republicans are crazy enough to oust a fairly effective conservative congressman in favor of a Qanon conspiracy theorist. I think that says all we need to know about Colorado Republicans these days.

Hickenlooper is Biden: moderate, but gaff prone. He handled the ethics thing terribly. It was a joke, but he gave it credence because instead of addressing it and calling it what it was, he chose to ignore it.

The upshot for him is that he'll really have to stick his foot in his mouth to lose in a year when every Democrat and most independents in the state are going to show up to vote Trump out. The concern is that he may actually find a way to do that.

The more interesting race may be US House District 3. Scott Tipton got primaried out in favor of Lauren Boebert. She's hard-right, barely understands how government works, and acknowledges QAnon. Pueblo could flip that district blue.

Ha! Yes, I edited to add something about that right after I posted. Straight up looney tunes.

A poll came out today saying Hick by 9.
If you are really focused on all these races AND you are a ”socialist”, then head to ColoradoPols.com

When Hickenlooper ran one of his first campaign ads, he talked about his ability to speak up rather than remain silent like the other guy. I thought he was referring to Bennett. LOL.

I will just say I like Gardner. At least when I contact he office, I get a well thought out response. Not like the generic drivel that used to be issued by Udall and currently by Lamborn (who I think is not too bright, but has a death grip on the 5th district).

That's what we all thought in 2016. The difference was much higher than I thought for Colorado - Clinton 48%, Trump 43% and the other guy about 5%. So not just the 1/3 of the population. We were watching the results in our friends' house in Lakewood and I remember people in their neighborhood cheering. We couldn't wait to get the hell out of there and back to our own house in Denver. Just saying, we can't get too comfortable.
