Well, nothing in the mountains. Don't forget to factor in the snow when you think about this commute. It often snows in Evergreen before it snows in the metro area. I don't know how far Lyons is from Brighton, you would have to look it up. Lyons is a cute little foothills town that backs right up to the mtns. At least then you'd be north. It would be a torturous commute from Evergreen, that's for sure, probably involving driving through the city at some point.

The commute into downtown is pretty easy from evergreen from a traffic standpoint because there isn't any until right before you get to downtown but if you have to go any distance north, east or south away from downtown (coming from Evergreen) traffic gets much worse.

I personally wouldn't make this commute. Downtown is where I draw the line.

Thanks for all the info! I plan on visiting and then I'll have some type of idea of what the area is like but I personally think the commute would be too much for a Mon-Fri job even though I REALLY want to live in the mountains. It would be a nice way to get away from the city every day but might not be worth the gas and distance. Thanks again!

Well if we aren't in the same boat!! My company is planning to relocate me to their Denver office for a huge project we have and I really want to live in Evergreen. My project is in Brighton. I hate long commutes, but I don't mind a little drive in the morning to clear my day before it starts. But damn, 46 miles and in the snow can be no fun at all.

I agree, at first I might not mind it but I'm thinking about 20 years doing it 5 days a week...and what if I had to come in last min...it would take an hour to get there! But I so want to live in the mountains so I'm at a delima here.

You can always rent and try it out. If it is too much then move.

i havent dont live there yet, i visited and tried it for 4 days in a row, its about 20mins. works for me my only concern of course is it is the rocky mtns and between october and may snowstorms may hamper the traffic or the ability to even get on 70 at times, when i was there the weather was fine but something tells me a driving 70 in the mtns down onto the plains could be rather rough, we shall see i am moving to evergreen in 13days and am very excited as i have wanted to live in the rockies since i was 11!!!!
