CSU breaks ground on new golf facility.

Columbus State University's golf program will have a shiny new studio this fall. Officials and supporters held a ground breaking ceremony Monday morning at the site of the new Key Golf Studio.

Former Masters champion Larry Mize and former local amateur golf champion Billy Key attended the ceremony.

The facility is being named for Key, a financial backer of the project and a Georgia Golf Hall of Fame member.

The Key Golf Studio is being built on 13 acres of land and an adjacent lot formerly housing the Boutwell Chiropractic Clinic. The project is being developed in phases, entirely with private funds, with the goal of it becoming a facility that attracts and trains some of the best collegiate golfers in the country. It will be home to CSU's men's and women's golf teams, and it's where instructors will teach CSU student golf classes.

Looks like Adams has got some plans for the old Lowes property across from the Hughston Clinic. Not sure if these are the expected tenants but would be nice. Guitar Center, LA Fitness and Aldi are shown. http://adamsbrokerage.com/home/wp-co...2014_04_10.pdf. Also Shoe Carnival has signed a lease for the Midtown Shopping Center according to the leasing agent. I would say that's a decent anchor for that area. I know at one time Dollar Tree was supposed to be over there but not sure that is still going to happen.

Great news I know a lot of us have been wanting an Aldi to open in Columbus. I had to zoom in on the document to see the pictures to see it was a picture of an Aldi. I hope that's actually an expected tenant and not just a filler picture until they know the actual tennants.

That's awesome! This is the first time in 2014 that they've updated their filers and this is a GREAT addition to Columbus, all of these would be GREAT.

I agree completely. All of the stores would be a huge hit in the Columbus market. Great redevelopment opportunity in an excellent location.

Also, rumor is that Epcon Communities is looking for more land. Their project on Veterans Pkwy a few miles north of Northside High School has been a huge success. They were over 60% sold before they broke ground. Would be nice to see another Epcon property in Columbus.

Does anyone know if Guitar Center, Aldi, and LA Fitness were just hypothetically selected by Adams to serve as "example" tenants for those spaces, or have the companies themselves expressed interest in locating here?
