Well, then get us back on track. I asked a relevant question that hasn't been answered. We all know that there's crime downtown (just like everyother part of town). I still say that the good outweighs the bad. You seem to disagree.

So how can the community maintain the positive aspects of downtown Columbus and get rid of or at least reduce the negative elements?

I would think the folks that were behind creating and promoting this downtown(or uptown lol)atmosphere would have had plans for the crime and drunks since it happens everywhere as you said.
They basically just closed a bunch of old seedy downtown bars over the years due to drunken brawls etc where people were genuinely shopping with their families or attending a movie at the Bradley or Georgia theaters etc. added a few new benches, corner roadsigns and fancy trash cans and put MORE bars (disguised as upscale restaurants lol) in.
As usual Columbus just does cheap copies of other comparable cities successes and acts like it is some kind of exclusive deal.
I think you should be answering your own question rather than asking someone else to solve a problem they did not create since you approve of it

You obviously do not have access to pertinent news in Columbus.
The local Concerned Citizens for Uptown Columbus have taken several large ads in the Ledger asking why is it today bar owners are pretending to operate outdoor cafes on the sidewalks and private property on broadway.
And why are young adults under the legal drinking age allowed to enter the same areas operated by bars.
Mayor Peter's ordinance was to allow all eateries to operate sidewalk settings not bars.
They are insisting bar owners keep their business indoors where it belongs.
This group has many heavy hitters in the local community backing this along with Ft Benning senior staff and it looks like this will finally end the downtown fiasco for good.
