they couldn't tranq them at night. officals said its' too hard to do that at night and they can still run after being hit. for the safety of the people they had to do what they could do. this morning, Jack Hanna said that they would try to catch what animals they could and take to the zoo or another place.

this guy did have permits but not all the permits he was suppose to have. and with the owner being dead, they really have no idea how many animals he had.

lololololol I wish.

I totally think its wrong that they are shooting to kill these lovely animals though. Ridiculous if you ask me, whether they pose an immediate danger or not we can put em to sleep.

You must know there would be a herd of lawyers descending on Zanesville like wildebeest to a watering hole, if little Billy was ate by a tiger (with a tranquillizer dart sticking out his rump) while waiting down at the bus stop one morning.

Geez this is about as bad as animal escapes can get!

The only thing missing is a crocodile.

This article explains a lot more of what happened. The owner of these animals apparently open the gates to all cages and then shot himself.

Preserve owner kills himself after freeing exotic animals

I really think it's wiser to heed the judgment of an animal expert like Jack Hanna instead of thinking we somehow know best. He explained why they were shot.

There are some people who somehow think animal lives are more important than humans. I'm sure they wouldn't be saying that if they, or perhaps their child, had a Bengal tiger bearing down on them. Honestly, I have very little respect for anyone who places animal welfare and life above human welfare/life.

Exactly. Some people think they should simply be allowed to roam free, without thinking about the fact that Ohio is NOT their native habitat.

Ridiculous? They pose an immediate danger, cannot be tranquilized at night, and you want to wait. How far can a cheetah get in 12 hours? These were caged animals, wild and violent, not pets. 48 wild animals running loose and you say don't kill them.

I applaud the man who made an immediate decision to shoot to kill.

I'm just disgusted that these animals have been hunted down and shot. I'm sure these rural deputies were more than happy to have a chance to shoot their weapons. Shameful.

Actually if these are Amur (Siberian) Tigers, they can survive the cold weather.
