Hopefully that begins to spur more development in Franklinton. I thought when COSI moved over there that Franklinton would really take off, but it's still rather seedy and not particularly inviting. So mcuh potential with its proximity to downtown.

The area behind COSI will be drastically different sooner rather than later. The Scioto Peninsula redevelopment plan is supposed to come out soon. I thought it was going to be released this spring, but I've seen rumors that it'll be out in June. No idea what the plans will show overall, but I do know that the Columbus Zoo has already committed to building some kind of animal adventure there, and I believe it's supposed to be built before 2015.

moving cosi to franklinton was a bad idea obviously in hindsight.cosi was in the heart of downtown and generated alot of business etc.cosi currently is an island surrounded by a huge parking lot,the building itself imo doesnt work, its just like the new franklin county courthouse, any time you have a panel of "experts "make changes to buildings, instead of letting talented architects design the buildings, you end up with east german style government buildings..thank god the convention center or leveque tower were built before "commisions"..

It faced criticism and declined attendance in the beginning, but it's been fairly successful overall since then. And again, it won't be surrounded just by parking lots for much longer.

Project Update: LeVeque Tower

Work on restoring the 85 year old Leveque Tower continues. The lobby restoration should be done by summer and interior work possibly by fall, including a boutique hotel, office space and up to 70 residential units in the tower portion. The exterior terra cotta restoration could take up to 5 years, but at ground level, new granite, lighting, planters, etc should also be complete toward the end of the year.

Columbus Metropolitan Library is now partnered with 11 other libraries around the central Ohio area.

Alexandria Public Library
Fairfield County District Library
Grandview Heights Public Library
Marysville Public Library
Pick@way County District Public Library (filter thought this was a bad word)
Pickerington Public Library
Plain City Public Library
Southwest Public Library
Wagnalls Memorial Library
Worthington Libraries
OSU Thompson Library

Upgrades happened this week. This means over 1,000,000 more items to circulate at no extra cost to the taxpayer.

It's a good time to be in central Ohio if you love to read books.

Offices, apartments to follow annexation | ThisWeek Community News

The plot of land at the southeast corner of Riverside Drive and Bethel Road will be annexed into Upper Arlington and redeveloped. The 9.7 acres will contain a 260-unit apartment complex and 25,000 sf office building in a dense, new development. The lot is mostly vacant now, although a few existing homes will be demolished. Construction could begin not long after the annexation is finalized on June 12th.
