Doesn't look comfortable, but they do look sharp!

We complain about our internet connection slowing down or our smartphone missing an app that can read barcodes, but ya know, we sure have come a long way!

Btw check out those tape transports - I saw a pic somewhere of the motors that control the reels and they were HUGE, not surprising since they have to have such tight control over the speed/distance they move the tape.

Been a tech for 28 years (well, was - I'm retired) and never wore a suit except to important meetings.

I can remember IT friends in college in the mid 90's wearing suits. They worked in those... what do you call work-study programs? Anyway, on the days they worked, they were wearing full suits to work. Not just a jacket and tie, but a full two piece suit.

Dress code? What dress code? All we have to meet now is OSHA regulations. So no open-toe footwear. The retail store techs dress better than the corporate techs do.

I think Unix techs are still required to wear a beard.

It depends on the company - small business v. Fortune 100.

I've been involved with both. Many companies in both categories have relaxed their dress code to club wear. The finance sector has maintained a more reasonable dress code.

I really didn't expect to hear that any tech companies required a suit of any type these days - I guess I've been watching too much TV or something (or maybe I've seen WarGames too many times!).
