I don't think all robocall systems distinguish between cell and landline numbers. If you've never had one on your cell phone, you may be just lucky.

Nope, my wife got so many on her cell that she changed numbers which helped for a while then they started all over again. She then changed carriers to "Jitterbug" and now no more robo/spam calls.

This article, (dated today), mentions that same scam. At the bottom, it says:

"If you receive (or have already received) a scam-related phone call, the FTC requests you dial (toll-free) 1-877-FTC-HELP or visit the Complaint Assistant site."

I just got one of these calls. The Caller ID said, "Private Caller," so I thought I'd play along. When I answered, there was of course the usual pause, and then a woman said, "Hello, my name is Helen and I am calling you from Microsoft technical support."

I replied in an amazed tone, "Hello, my name is Helen and I am calling you from Microsoft technical support." She paused for a moment, and then in a puzzled voice repeated, "Hello, my name is Helen and I am calling you from Microsoft technical support." I again said, in the same amazed tone, "Hello, my name is Helen and I am calling you from Microsoft technical support."

There was the briefest of pauses, and then she said, "Shut up!" and hung up the phone.

I have decided that this is the way I am going to handle all human telemarketers from now on. It was too fun.

My experience with a bunch of these calls over the last year or so . . . these Scumbags are "offshore" (more than likely India) and will never give up.

They have NO SHAME.

Scumbags is right. And, when I'm in the mood I first string along for a while, then I begin telling them what ------------------------------------------------------------- they are. I had one guy that I actually thought was going to cry.

And with such calls, if a number is available, I call them about 25 times. That gets them really upset.

Also playing the percentages. Despite what Tim Cook would like you to believe, Apple makes up a fairly small share of household PC ownership.

If it ever happens again I'll act like it's a phone sex call (not that I've got ANY experience at those) and see how far that goes.
I'll bet they'll sign off before I get to what I'm going to do to my pet goat...
