I have driven almost every single route in CT. Honestly, it's a mixed bag, as far as the quality of the roads. I would agree that all of our expressways are in excellent condition. Most state routes are in great condition as well. Luckily, 99% of our routes don't have potholes, major cracks or bad undulation problems (wobbly surface). Rhode Island, however, is a disaster. Potholes and bumps everywhere. So bad, that you have to frequently swerve around and really stay alert as to what the surface of the roads are like. But again, this only speaks for several major routes within RI.

Connecticut has always had among the highest gas prices in the country. It is due to two things. We do not have any gas refineries or ports for gasoline in the state and we have a higher gas tax rather than tolls on our roads. I do agree our roads are in pretty good shape given the amount of traffic on them and the tough winters we have. For many years I admired Massachusetts' roads but in the last several years I have become shocked at how poor they have become. Rhode Island roads have always been horrible while New York and New Jersey can be good and bad. Jay

Stuck?

There's absolutely no reason at all that you can't blend it yourself right there at the pump. Many stations still use an underground valve that draws from the 87 and 93 tanks to dispense the 89 mid-grade. There's no reason at all that you can't fill with 93 and 87. If you go equally, you would be at 90. Your car won't notice any difference, and you'll save ~.15/gallon doing this.

Water injection systems, Methanol injection systems : Aquamist

I was just back home in Northeastern PA 2 weeks ago and noticed their gas was over 50c/gallon cheaper. Craziness.

I was there July 4th weekend and noticed the same thing, but you don't even have to go that far from CT. Anywhere in NJ, even close to the NY border like Ft. Lee right over the GW bridge is almost as cheap as northeast PA.
